Better Tents and Gardens

Camping doesn't mean you have to pretend you are homeless or uncivilized. Look at RVs these days. They have hot tubs and shit! If an RV isn't in the budget, then make your tent the envy of the state park. Extension cords powering a laptop is classy camping 101. How about an air mattress that doubles as a sofa?

Throw some light up things outside for illumation
and style points. Its 2012 people. Camp like it.

It's not delivery..

Everyone loves pizza!(except maybe vegans) rather than settle for some generic, mass produced pie from a pizza chain, we made one to suit our tastes. And it was fugghin GOOD!
Get some fancy cheese, olives, artichokes, fresh basil, tomato and some quality mushrooms. Don't half-ass the quality of the ingredients. You're making an awesome artisan pizza, not some $5 'hot and ready' piece of shit

Spread some pesto on a pizza crust.
This pizza doesn't have sauce, but tomatoes instead. After the tomato layer, throw on the other veggie fixings.

Now cut up some spicy sausage instead of pepperoni. Now comes the fancy cheese.
Bake it till it looks good.

Eat awesome pizza with a glass of wine then go on Facebook and smugly look down on people you are better than.

Free paint

For the month of March Ace is giving away a free quart of paint every Saturday. Seeing this coupon in the mail here, it is decided that we have to participate.

We chose the color Blue Lagoon for the wall in the bathroom. Perfect because it matches with my two watercolor paintings hanging on the wall and the frosted glass we are very fond of.

Liquor License to Kill

Bars in southern Utah are like good country songs; pretty much non-existent. People at bars suck. Prices at bars suck. Music at bars sucks. Drunk drivers suck.
Solution!

Lets just build one!

Cost: $110 for materials and one weekend.

Fish and chips.

How long do Ruffles hang out in the bag before consumption? Prolly a month or two. Mmm-mmm! Mass produced, preservative laden potatos! And the non biodegradable packaging! YAY! Try this.

 Grab some Idaho ground nuggets.

Try to get them as thin as you can (with out cutting yourself). Potato peeler works great for thin chips

We used canola oil to fry the chips in.

Helpful tip, wash the potatoes pretty well even after slicing. That froth is starchy moisture.

Once they have cooked a little while in the oil fish them out and lay them out on a paper towel to dry and viola! Home made potato chips.

For the tuna melts, mix your tuna how you would like to eat it as a regular tuna sandwich.
Preheat the oven to 350 while you do your prep.

Slice up some tomatoes and place them on the tuna and bread.

Finish off with a good cheese that melts nice in the oven. Our favorite is provolone.

Once the cheese is melted take them out of the oven and consume.

I had an avocado to use, so I sliced up some pieces for our melts and used the other half to make guacamole for the chips.
Not bad at all for just throwing something together.

Le Bistro

The other weekend we decided to make spaghetti and invite some friends over. Kyle's spaghetti is some of the best I've ever had.

Spaghetti was amazing, of couse, but friends had things that came up that prevented them from joining us. Which is alright because Kyle decided that we were eating outside on the porch for a romantic meal together. He is brilliant. We now have a bistro!

Pretty classy, right?
We know it is.

Mood Lighting

A recent discovery made in our place is one of our kitchen lights will switch on and off every 25 minutes. We don't go into a rolling blackout type of darkness, just enough to notice half of our fluorescent bulbs are now off.

Most tenants would call the property managers and bitch about it. Not us.
See, a typical dinner for two takes about 15- 20 minutes to prepare. So within a few minutes of sitting down to eat something out of a bread bowl and wash it down with a well paired red, lights!

We don't have an electrical issue on our hands, we have an automatic mood lighting setup, and people are willing to pay handsomely for automatic lights. Building inspectors see a fire hazard, we see a classy illumination upgrade.
